Keynote speaker
for the event is nationally acclaimed humorist
Royce Elliott,
"America's funniest clean comedian." Elliott has appeared
regularly in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Branson, Mo., and many other
venues in the U.S. and Canada.
In addition to the lighthearted entertainment, an overview of
trends in the local farm economy that affect jobs and economic
development will be presented by Nic Anderson from the National
Pork Board. John Hartman of Farm Credit Services will review the
economic impact of agriculture in Logan County.
The highlight of the breakfast will be the announcement and
introduction of the 2008 Ag Day Scholarship winners.
Scholarships will be awarded to Logan County students who are
studying for careers in agriculture, particularly those
interested in returning to Logan County.
Dave Irwin, chairman of the chamber's ag committee,
emphasizes that the scholarship program and breakfast for the
community would not be possible without the generous support of
local businesses. Sponsors will be listed on a keepsake souvenir
and recognized during the event through vendor tables,
promotional giveaways and a slide show presentation.
Guzzardo's Italian Villa will cater the breakfast. There is
no charge to attend the event, but a reservation is required.
RSVPs must be received prior to 5 p.m. March 12 and may be made
by calling the chamber of commerce, 217-735-2385.
The Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its
ninth annual Ag Day Breakfast on March 19 at 7 a.m. The event,
to take place in Laughlin Center on the campus of Lincoln
Christian College and Seminary, is part of the National
Agriculture Week observance to bring business and agriculture
leaders together.
