[March 07, 2008]  (AP) Messy weather was headed to the East on Friday. The storm was expected to bring rain to the eastern seaboard and snow to the Midwest.

Snow was also forecast for Arkansas, with temperatures in the northern part of the state reaching only into the 30s, more than 20 degrees below normal. Snowfall in Arkansas could reach half a foot.

The expected deluge on the East Coast could cause flooding.

In the West, a break was expected in the gorgeous weather the region has experienced the past couple of weeks. Rain was forecast to move through the Northwest Friday evening and into the interior overnight. The storm was expected to be relatively warm.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of minus 20 degrees at Longville, Minn., to a high of 93 degrees at McAllen, Texas.
