[March 10, 2008]  (AP) A cold front was expected to sweep into the Northwest on Monday, delivering rain to western Washington, Oregon and northern California. Snow was forecast for the higher elevations.

Heavy rain and some thunderstorms were anticipated in Texas and the Mississippi Delta.

Light snow was forecast for the Appalachians and eastern portions of the Ohio Valley.

Clear skies were expected in Southern California and much of the Great Plains.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of minus 20 degrees at Spincich Lake, Mich., to a high of 89 degrees at Laredo, Texas.
