[March 10, 2008]  Swing and funk are types of music that can make you smile. The Lincoln College Music Department is hoping their March 27 concert will make you smile so much that your cheeks hurt. The program will include a variety of musical selections and will feature the songs "Uptown Stomp," "Somewhere" and "Trafea DeBolos." The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Johnston Center for Performing Arts on the college campus.

Lincoln College music instructor Scott Woger, who directs the show, says there's something for all music lovers. "The program opens with swing music that will have everyone in the audience tapping their feet," he said. "I'm very proud to show off our students, who have worked very hard this semester to produce a program that they should be very proud of."

Students who will perform include Jessica Breden of Jerseyville, Patrick Daly of Buckingham, Paul Heine of Pekin, Nate King of Lincoln, Charles Lattimore of Chicago, DuWayne McNeely of Rushville, William Rhoda of Philadelphia, Pa., and Nathan Whiteman of Lincoln.

The concert is free and open to the public, but reserved seating is required due to the overwhelming response. To reserve seats call 735-5050, ext. 280.
