[March 14, 2008]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago's police superintendent has replaced commanders in 21 of the city's 25 districts.

The move announced Thursday continues a leadership shake-up Jody Weis began last month shortly after taking over the department.

Weis, who formerly led the FBI's Philadelphia office, inherited a police department rocked by allegations of brutality and misconduct. Chicago Mayor Richard Daley charged him with holding officers to higher standards and rebuilding public trust.

Weis says his selection process was focused on "proven leaders."

The changes take effect Sunday.
