Concerning his work with the board and his pending resignation,
Langdon said:
"Lincoln Community High School has been my professional
home for nearly 13 years. In those years, I have moved from
the Dean of Students to the Superintendency. Most recently,
we have improved our financial outlook, upgraded our
technology, increased our security, and very soon, our
facility will be more professional, attractive, and
comfortable. I hope that these projects will have a long
lasting impact on the students, parents, and employees of
LCHS."
Concerning the superintendent's pending resignation, board
president Rick Hobler stated:
"The entire Board regrets the loss of Superintendent
Langdon to District 404. Mr. Langdon has been a valued part
of our excellent administrative team for many years. His
departure will be a significant loss to the District. On the
other hand, the Board understands and fully supports our
employees when they make professional advancement decisions
that they believe are in their best interests. We wish Mr.
Langdon the very best as he continues to work for the
improvement of education in Illinois."
The board also discussed its options for hiring a permanent
replacement. Hobler said:
"The timeline to fill the Superintendent's position by July 1,
2008 is a challenge given the number of superintendent openings
statewide and the limited candidate pool at this time of year. With
that in mind, the Board of Education has decided to immediately
begin accepting letters of application for one or two interim
superintendents to fill the position for the 2008-2009 school year.
A full fledged search for a permanent superintendent will formally
take place this fall in anticipation that a new full-time
Superintendent would begin work on July 1, 2009."
