[March 31, 2008]
At 9:15 a.m. a line of strong to
severe thunderstorms was affecting parts of west central Illinois
from near Galesburg southward to Jacksonville. These storms were
moving to the northeast at about 40 mph and should move up to a
Peoria-to-Mason City-to-Springfield line between 10 and 10:30 a.m.
The strongest storms will likely remain north of the Sangamon River
Valley, although radar trends suggest the line continues to develop
farther to the south. These storms will produce locally torrential
downpours, wind gusts to 40 mph and dangerous cloud-to-ground
lightning. Small hail will also be possible in a few locations.
Should this line hold together, it will move into the
Bloomington-Normal area around 11 a.m.

and This Evening
(9:09
a.m. Monday announcement)

[March 31, 2008]
There is a slight risk for
severe weather Monday, with a greater chance in the late afternoon
and evening. A cold front will be passing over Logan County,
bringing with it a chance for storms. |
Currently a squall line is west of Logan County, causing the
issuance of severe thunderstorm warnings in the Illinois River
Valley. The line is moving northeast. Current radar tracking
indicates the severe weather will move north of Logan County. We
might see some moderate rain as the south end of the line moves
northeast.
All agencies should monitor NOAA All Hazards Radio or commercial
sources as the day progresses.
