[March 31, 2008]  (AP)  Severe thunderstorms were anticipated on Monday across the central Plains and into the Mississippi Valley as a strong low pressure system pushes through the nation's midsection. Large hail and gusty winds were possible. The system could have the potential to spawn tornadoes.

It was expected to bring moderate snowfall to southern Minnesota and portions of Wisconsin, while Michigan's Upper Peninsula could receive heavier snows in the evening.

Rain was forecast across the East Coast. Heavy rain was anticipated in New England.

Clear skies were forecast throughout the Southwest, while showers were expected in the Northwest.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of minus 19 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 93 degrees at Wink, Texas.
