[May 03, 2008]  Stop by the Lincoln Area YMCA office today to purchase your "Cow Chip Bingo" ticket. Tickets are $15 per bingo square. Join us May 10 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the YMCA Activity Center, 719 Wyatt Ave., for this second annual fundraiser. There will be various raffles, a magician and balloons, contests and games for children and adults, preschool play stations, free hot dogs and chips, an up-close look at a city of Lincoln fire truck, the Humane Society of Logan County, and much, much more. Be sure to mark your calendar with a "moo!"

InvestmentYMCA Summer Day Camp begins June 2 at the YMCA Activity Center. Kid Camp is for children entering kindergarten through third grade, and Pre-Teen Camp is for children entering fourth through sixth grade. Call the YMCA office, 735-3915, for registration information and deadline dates.

Summer hours, 6:30-8:30 a.m., for the Active Older Adults Walking program will begin May 29. This change is necessary due to day camp gym activities in the summer.

Auto Repair

Wee ball is a fun and exciting way to teach your preschool age children the lively game of baseball. Participants will receive instruction on hitting, catching, throwing, running bases and will play an abbreviated game. Wee ball sessions are on Saturday mornings, 9:30-10:30, from May 31 to June 21 at the Y Activity Center.

Join instructor Lisa Madigan June 9-13 for a fun and exciting week of Summer Art Camp. This week will be filled with all things ceramic. Participants will learn about pinching, coiling and molding clay to make the most amazing creations. Participants will also get a chance to try out a real potter wheel. Register your child now, as space is limited.

This summer the YMCA and instructor Jacob Horton are offering two golf clinic sessions at the Lincoln Elks Club for first- through eighth-grade children. Horton will work with each child to improve upon their individual skills. The first session will be June 23-27, with June 26 off. The second session will be Aug. 4-8. The children will be placed in two age groups so the instructor can work with them individually.

The YMCA is starting a three-on-three soccer tournament this year. The tournament is for children in first through eighth grade and is scheduled for July 25-27. Teams will be guaranteed to play two games. Sign up your team now at the Y office.

Carol Wilson, Lincoln College women's basketball coach, and the YMCA are teaming up for a basketball camp. This camp will provide the first- through sixth-grade girls of the community with the opportunity to improve upon their basketball skills. The camp will be July 28-Aug. 1 at the Lincoln Junior High School gymnasium. Stop by now to get your child registered for this exciting summer camp.
