For many years,
St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital has been the premier research and treatment facility
for pediatric cancers. Since its inception in 1962, the facility has
been known as a place where no one pays for treatment beyond what is
covered by insurance, and those without insurance are never asked to
pay. This health care charity is made possible by donations, and now
the St. Jude Lincoln to Peoria Run is hosting a fundraising dinner
to help.

Come over to Hallie's on the square in Lincoln on May 18 from 10
a.m. to 8 p.m. to join in the fun. Choose between two menu options
for $7.95 -- open-faced roast beef sandwich with homemade mashed
potatoes and seasoned green beans, or Hallies' famous schnitzel with
a choice of potato and salad. Meals are available for dine in or
carry out and there is a 10 percent senior discount. There will also
be a 50-50 drawing and door prizes from various businesses,
including the Route 66 Heritage Foundation, Hallie's and the Abraham
Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County.
All proceeds from the event go directly to St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital to help continue the mission of advancing cures
and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through
research and treatment.

St. Jude Runs exist to
support the mission of ALSAC, the fundraising organization for St.
Jude, and to provide funds raised through running events to St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and the St. Jude
Midwest Affiliate in Peoria.
This is the 19th year for the Lincoln-to-Peoria run. The run takes
place on the first Saturday in August every year. This year
it is on Aug. 2. Runners
leave from the safety complex parking lot around 5 a.m. (possibly
5:30) and go to the Peoria Civic Center. There, all runs meet, and
on the St. Jude Telethon the participants present the money they
have earned.
The fundraisers are not only meant to raise money, but also to
spread awareness. Anyone interested in helping or running can e-mail
for more information at
lincolnstjuderuns@yahoo.com.
