[May 12, 2008]
The Community Action Partnership of Central
Illinois is about helping people and changing lives. Last week, the
private, nonprofit organization celebrated just that at statewide
celebrations in Springfield. May is
National Community Action Month.
|
The week of celebrations began on May 4 with the awarding of the
agency's Family of Distinction Award to the Jennifer Glick family.
Over the past 10 years, the family successfully moved to
self-sufficiency and homeownership with the support of Community
Action services. Jennifer Glick is now employed by the Community
Action Head Start program as a family partnerships specialist. In
this role, she helps Head Start families set goals and access
resources in their efforts to become empowered and set goals for
their future. Celebrations continued on May 6, when three
Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois staff members
graduated from the Family and Community Development certification
program, coordinated by the Illinois Association of Community Action
Agencies. Darla Buss of Lincoln, Jennifer Glick of Lincoln and Cathy
Buggar of Clinton earned the certifications to enhance the services
they provide to Community Action customers.
Steve Lobb of Clinton, governing board president for Community
Action, received the state association's Harry Ring Award for his
outstanding leadership and contribution to the Community Action
Partnership of Central Illinois. Lobb has been president since April
2006.
Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois, formerly CIEDC,
