The Pat O'Neill Student of the Month
Recognition Award for May 2008 goes to three very deserving people
-- those students being Austin Maske, a senior at Mount Pulaski High
School; Sydny Morris, a senior at Lincoln Community High School; and
Jessica Owens, a senior at Lincoln Community High School. All three
have strong academic achievements and community involvement.

Austin is the son of
William and Barbara Maske of Mount Pulaski. He is co-captain of the
baseball team, a golf team member, participates in Science Olympiad
and Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering, is active in school
plays, a member of MPHS National Honor Society, teaches Bible school
at church, mentors 7-year-old boys, represents Lincoln Post 263
baseball, and attended Illini Premier Boys State at Eastern Illinois
University and ran for lieutenant governor while there.
Sydny is the daughter of Rhonda and Mark Morris of Lincoln. She
has participated four years in marching band, four years in pep
band, two years in Fine Arts Club, one year in Pep Club, three years
in poms, two years in soccer, two years in Spanish, five years in
Lincoln Christian Church choir and five years in the Lincoln
Christian Church percussion group Trash, which performed two years
for Relay For Life. She has earned academic honors or high honors
for four years and was on the CS8 Athletic Academic All-Conference
honor roll.

Jessica is the daughter of Reatha and John Owens of Lincoln. She is
involved with Wednesday Night Kids Club, C.R.A.S.H., softball
clinics, Vacation Bible School, trick-or- treat for canned goods,
Lincoln Park District Halloween Party, Good News Publishing Company,
National Honor Society, LCHS pom-pom squad captain, CS8
Athletic-Academic All Conference honor roll, G Times, chairman for
Chester-East Lincoln shopping workshop, Spanish Club, peer leaders,
Lincoln Chill, softball team, Teen Rescue and Serving Him, and
holiday card making for every major holiday throughout the year.
