Area youths win honors in Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run competition

[May 15, 2008]  ELKHART -- These participants competed in the Pitch, Hit & Run competition on May 10 at Zion Lutheran Elkhart Center.

The following competitors won the awards in their respective age groups:

Ages 7-8

  • Justine Beggs, Sherman; all-around champion, pitch champion (tie), hit champion

  • Zachary Drake, Elkhart; pitch champion (tie)

  • Jarett McCray, Williamsville; run champion

Ages 9-10

  • Noah Jeckel, Delavan; all-around champion, pitch champion (tie), run champion

  • Justice Ferrier, Sherman; pitch champion (tie)

  • Kegin Lolling-Houghton, Lincoln; hit champion

Ages 11-12

  • Matthew Amidon, Mount Pulaski; all-around champion, pitch champion (tie), hit champion

  • Jordan Luczaj, Mount Pulaski; pitch champion (tie), run champion

Ages 13-14

  • Kyle Patridge, Mount Pulaski; all-around champion, pitch champion (tie), hit champion

  • Ryan Amidon, Mount Pulaski; pitch champion (tie), run champion

  • Steven Schahl, Lincoln; third-place overall champion

Entertainment

The first-place winners advance to the sectional competition on Saturday in Mattoon. Sectional all-around champions become eligible to qualify for the Team Championship, to be held at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Mo. 

Pitch, Hit & Run is a baseball skills competition that allows youngsters to showcase their talents in pitching, hitting and running, with scores determined by individual performances in each skills event.
