If you have not noticed, spring
is here, and it is time to shift gears, literally, and start having
some summer fun. You can break out of your winter slumber and maybe
even see some of your favorite neighbors when you come out this
Saturday for the first "Family Bicycle Ride," organized by the new Bike Trails Committee of the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber
of Commerce.
|
It is not only free, but all participants will receive a souvenir
and be entered into a door prize drawing to win a free bicycle,
donated by Wal-Mart, or a bicycle helmet, donated by the Logan
County Health Department. Riders are to meet at the YMCA Activity
Center gym, 721 Wyatt Ave. in Lincoln. There is no fee and
preregistration is not required. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m.
The ride begins at 1 p.m.
In order to fit all abilities, the ride offers four different
routes: 5.2 miles, 7.7 miles, 17.3 miles and 47.5 miles.
Even if you don't ride, you can be involved. Volunteers are
needed to work the water stations. Jan Dickerson at Fitness Balance,
125 N. Sangamon St., phone 735-4463, is coordinating the details for
this event and can answer any of your questions.
This event is free of charge, sponsored by Bassi
Construction, Fitness Balance, Lincoln Area YMCA and the chamber of
commerce.
