[May 20, 2008]  (AP)  A low pressure system in the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys was expected to bring showers and thunderstorms as it moves east Tuesday across the Mid-Atlantic.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue over the Northeast, and colder temperatures were forecast for the Northeast and Great Lakes. Light snow showers were possible in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Coastal rain was to continue in the Pacific Northwest Tuesday morning and to spread across Northern California, the northern Intermountain West, and the Northern Rockies.

Scattered showers were also likely in southern Florida.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a low of 14 degrees at Lolo Hot Springs, Mont., to a high of 120 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
