Body found in Salt Creek on Monday

[May 27, 2008]  Logan County Coroner Robert Thomas has confirmed that the body of a white male was found Monday afternoon in Salt Creek.

Two boaters discovered the remains at 3:08 p.m. and immediately notified authorities.

Logan County respondents included the coroner's office, EMA dive team, the sheriff's department, both the Lincoln and Lincoln Rural fire departments, and Illinois State Police. 

The body was recovered and taken to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, where an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Thomas advised that DNA results to help identify the individual will be available in a day or two.
