[May 28, 2008]  Certified nursing assistant Marisa Cummings has been honored as Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital's May Employee of the Month.

Marisa began her ALMH career on the medical-surgical floor. Previously she worked at Christian Nursing Home and was a mental health technician at Lincoln Developmental Center.

Marisa's co-workers say that she always does what is best for her patients, making them smile and easing their pain. "She is so caring and kind to everyone … just a joy to be around and truly makes ALMH a great place to work."

Marisa believes that making her patients smile and feel more comfortable is her greatest accomplishment. Her fellow nurses have also honored Marisa for her caring nature and hard work. They honored her with the "Unsung Hero" award during Nursing Week. The award is given to nurses who truly deserve recognition for consistently going above and beyond their job duties.

Marisa recommends nursing to anyone with a loving heart. "Patients need and deserve tender, loving care," she says. "If you enjoy helping others, nursing is a wonderful career. Making a difference in someone's life is a great feeling."

ALMH employs more than 250 in a wide variety of job functions. A different employee is honored each month for his or her commitment to creating great patient experiences, getting great results and making ALMH a great place to work.
