Visitors to this year's Logan County Route 66
Garage Sale, scheduled for June 13 and 14, will notice a few changes
in the works. The Route 66 Heritage Foundation has partnered with
several other local organizations and businesses to make the event
even better than before.

The new features start with a Friday afternoon hog roast at The
Mill with the ABATE organization and an antique car show hosted by
the Railsplitter Antique Auto Club, also at The Mill, on Saturday.
From noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday there will be a railsplitting
demonstration put on by the Logan County Railsplitting Association
at the Railsplitter Covered Wagon.
Also, for those Route 66 history buffs out there, tours are being
given of several local Route 66 landmarks. Rare tours of The
Tropics, in Lincoln, will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday
and noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. In Atlanta, there will be tours of
the Palms Grill from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Tours of The
Mill will also be available on Friday and Saturday. These tours are
free and open to the public.
The Logan County Route 66 Garage Sale will have several vendor
locations in Lincoln, including Postville Park, Latham Park, the
courthouse lawn, the Information Station, the Railsplitter Covered
Wagon and McDonald's. Vendors will also be located at the Route 66
Park in Broadwell. There will be townwide garage sales in Atlanta,
Lawndale, Broadwell and Elkhart. Maps of the locations will be
available by June 1 at the Information Station.

If you're interested in being a vendor, placing your home garage
sale on the map or placing an advertisement with the map, please
contact the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County. Proceeds
from the vendor application fees, map listings and advertisements
will once again be going to The Mill restoration project. Contrary
to rumor, all money earned by the vendors and garage sales does
not go to The Mill; it remains the property of the vendors and
garage sale owners. The sale is designed so that everyone can make a
little money. Call 217-732-8687 for more information.
