Phyllis 'Phil' Turner

[November 12, 2008]  LONGWOOD, Fla. -- Phyllis Jean "Phil" Turner, 79, of Longwood, Fla., formerly of Lincoln, Ill., died Nov. 6, 2008, in Johnson City, Tenn., as a result of injuries she sustained in an automobile accident there on Oct. 15.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 22 at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, Fla.

Interment of her ashes will be at a later date in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln, Ill.

Phyllis was born in Lincoln on July 17, 1929, the middle child of Walter Dietrich "Pop" and Helen Seefeldt Warren. She married Lyle Groth, and he died in 1953. She then married Ted Turner in 1955, and he died in July 1995.

Phil is survived by a brother, James R. (and Kathleen) Warren of Springfield; an aunt, Fernola Gamble of Lincoln; nine nieces and nephews, Larry Parr, Neil Parr, Roger Parr and John Parr, all of Mason City, Debra Skelton of Lincoln, Dana Wood, Stacy Bangert and Tim Warren, all of Springfield, and Todd Warren of Pennsylvania; 17 great-nieces and nephews; and 15 great-great-nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Delores "Dee" Parr, and a great-great-nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the missions area of the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, 106 E. Church St., Orlando, FL 32801.
