Lincoln Police Department reports for Friday, Nov. 21

Vehicle damage on Nov. 16 at 11:45 a.m.; intersection of Fifth and Evans streets

--Jason J. Washam, male, 34, of Springfield; 2007 Hyundai Elantra

Washam said he was traveling east on Fifth Street, approaching Evans Street. As he passed through the intersection, a tan or brown dog came running into the street from the north. Washam could not get his vehicle stopped in time and struck the dog. The impact caused damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle, knocking out the fog lamp and punching a hole in the coolant reserve tank. The dog ran off and was not located.

On Nov. 17, contact was made with the owners of the dog. The dog was injured and was to be taken to the vet that day. The owner said she did not know the dog was out and that it was inside when she left the house at 10:30 a.m. The dog owner does not have homeowner's insurance.
