Children 10 and under eat free. The children's families can eat for
a $3.00 donation. The Jaycees will be serving pancakes and sausage
along with juice and milk. Look for Christmas goodies too! Santa
will be there for breakfast and to hear all the Christmas wishes.

The Lincoln Jaycees is a not-for-profit
organization that services Lincoln and the surrounding communities.
The Lincoln Jaycees give young people between the ages of 18 and 40
the tools they need to build the bridges of success for themselves
in the areas of business development, management skills, individual
training, community service, and international connections. Meetings
are the third Thursday of every month, 7 pm at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital and are open to everyone.
Mount Pulaski Upcoming Event
There will be a Tour of Homes on Sat., Dec. 6th
from 4-7pm in Mt. Pulaski. Tickets may be picked up at Salt Creek
Attic or Botanica (both on the square ). Then Santa will be coming to
the Courthouse at 7pm. He will have story time, followed by time
for visiting with him. The City of Mt. Pulaski is sponsoring the
"Guess How Much Money is in the Jar?" Contest for children age 10
and under at the Courthouse while Santa is there. The winner will
be announced at the Dec. 9th Council Meeting. Mt. Pulaski
businesses will also be open.

Street Christmas ornaments coming

Main Street Director
Wanda Lee Rohlfs has received word that their ornaments for 2008
have been shipped. They will have them on sale starting Monday,
December 1 at The Treasure Chest, Serendipity Stitches, Custom
Framing, Beans and Such, Action Rental and Sales, MKS Jewelers, LTD,
and the Main Street Lincoln office. The ornaments are $16.00. In
conjunction with the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's 200th
birthday and the re-enactment of Abraham Lincoln's 1858 speech, the
ornaments replicate the 1858 to 1903 courthouse where Abraham
Lincoln practiced law. Mr. Lincoln is standing in front of the
courthouse.

 Elkhart Candlelight Chapel Service, December 6, 2008
The annual Christmas Candlelight Service, held at the picturesque
St. John the Baptist Chapel in the historic Elkhart cemetery, is a
wonderful way to start the holiday season. This year the programs
are on Saturday, December 6, at 2:00, 4:00, 5:30 and 8:00 p.m.
The chapel was built in
1890 and is the only privately owned and operated church in
Illinois. Designed in Gothic Revival style, it is one of the few
remaining buildings constructed by the Culver Stone and Marble
Company of Springfield. The interior of the chapel will be
decorated for the holidays with candles and greenery, and luminaries
light the outdoor path for the later programs. The service features
musicians (instrumentals -including harp - and vocal). The chapel
has one of the three oldest working pipe organs in the state.
Special holiday dinners will be offered at two
Elkhart restaurants. Talk of the Town Restaurant is offering an
8-ounce burgundy steak or rosemary garlic pork loin dinner for
$19.25. Wild Hare Café at Horsefeathers is offering a roast turkey
breast or roasted pork loin dinner for $19.50. The Bluestem Bake
Shop should also be open on December 6 during the day. Request your
dinner reservations when you call for your Christmas Candlelight
Service tickets.
Tickets are $10 each. For reservations, call 217-947-2238. Once
your reservation is confirmed, you will need to mail your check
promptly to Elkhart Historical Society, PO Box 255, Elkhart, IL
62634. Reservations cannot be held without payment. Indicate how
you would like to get your tickets. If by mail, include a
self-addressed stamped envelope. Tickets can also be held at the
door. Elkhart is conveniently located just off I-55 on exit 115.
