Ruff journey: Georgia dog found in Florida

[October 01, 2008]  St. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- An Atlanta pooch traveled more than 400 miles for a Florida vacation, but even that might not have been enough for the golden retriever.

InsurancePepper the dog was covered in fleas and dirt when a St. Petersburg man found him outside a travel office during a thunderstorm. Jay Getman took the dog to a veterinarian. A microchip implanted in the dog's neck helped him reunite the dog with his grateful owner last week.

Pepper went missing from a dog sitter's home nine months ago when his family was in Mexico.
