[October 01, 2008]  (AP)  Storms were expected to push across the Mississippi Valley and upper Great Lakes on Wednesday. Slight rain showers and moderate thunderstorms were expected over Wisconsin and Iowa.

HardwareWhile the Northeast was expected to be dry and fair, cloudy conditions with showers and thunderstorms were predicted over areas along the southern East Coast.

The majority of the stormy weather was expected for the North Carolina and eastern Florida shorelines, as well as southern Texas. Intense tropical moisture was to continue leaking into the region, fueling scattered precipitation throughout the day. The scattered showers were expected to dissipate by Wednesday evening as drier and clearer air moved over the region.

Meanwhile, the West was to remain mostly warm with dry conditions. Areas along the coast were expecting much lower temperatures, and the California coast was forecast to receive low cloud and fog formation. The Pacific Northwest was to perhaps see slight evening showers.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Tuesday ranged from a low of 22 degrees at Burns, Ore., to a high of 105 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
