Redgrave and Richardson to star in 'Night Music'

[October 15, 2008]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Vanessa Redgrave and Natasha Richardson, mother and daughter, will play mother and daughter in a one-night concert version of "A Little Night Music," the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical.

Richardson will star as actress Desiree Armfeldt in the Roundabout Theatre Company benefit Jan. 12 at the Nokia Theatre Times Square. Redgrave will play Madame Armfeldt in the production, which will be directed by Scott Ellis. Ticket prices range from $150 to $2,500.

Also in the cast: Victor Garber, Christine Baranski, Laura Benanti and Marc Kudisch.

The musical, based on the Ingmar Bergman film "Smiles of a Summer Night," originally was seen on Broadway in 1973 with Glynis Johns, Len Cariou and Hermione Gingold in the cast.
