Lincoln College announces more scholarships

James T. Hickey Endowed Scholarship and Corrine Houston Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Jay Tibbs, son of Jeff and Andy Tibbs of Greenview, is this year's recipient of the James T. Hickey Endowed Scholarship and the Corrine Houston Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Lincoln College in Lincoln.

Tibbs, a 2007 Lincoln Community High School graduate, is taking liberal arts courses at Lincoln College and plans to continue his education to pursue a degree in criminal justice at Illinois State University. He has achieved academic success and was listed on the fall 2007 dean's list.

The James T. Hickey Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a worthy student from the area and is given in memory of Mr. James Hickey, a former Lincoln College board of trustees member and curator of the Lincoln Collection for the state of Illinois.

The Corrine Houston Memorial Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a student from Logan County and was established in memory of Ms. Houston, who was a retired educator and member of the Lincoln University Class of 1913.

H. Safford and Betty Peacock Foundation Scholarship and Corrine Houston Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Lincoln College sophomore Mindy Malerich of Lincoln is this year's recipient of the H. Safford and Betty Peacock Foundation Scholarship and the Corrine Houston Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Lincoln College.

Malerich is a 2007 graduate of Lincoln Community High School. She is currently working on general education courses and plans to graduate in May. She has achieved academic success and was listed on the fall 2007 and spring 2008 president's list. She is a member of the Lincoln College swim team. She is the daughter of Rod and Jan Malerich of Lincoln.

The H. Safford and Betty Peacock Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved academic honors. The scholarship was established by LC trustee emeritus H. Safford Peacock along with his wife, Betty Peacock, of Lincoln.

The Corrine Houston Memorial Endowed Scholarship is awarded to worthy students from Logan County. The scholarship was established in memory of Ms. Houston, who was a retired teacher and a member of the Lincoln University Class of 1913.

Wilbur Layman and Louise Walker Layman Scholarship

Lincoln College sophomore Marjorie White, daughter of Duane and Rita White of Lincoln, is this year's recipient of the Wilbur Layman and Louise Walker Layman Scholarship at Lincoln College.

White, a 2007 Lincoln Community High School graduate, is taking liberal arts courses at Lincoln College and plans to continue her education to study graphic design.

The Wilbur Layman and Louise Walker Layman Scholarship is awarded each year to an outstanding performing arts student. The scholarship was established to honor the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Layman. Wilbur Layman graduated with the Lincoln College Class of 1927. He also served on the Lincoln College board of trustees.

Corrine Houston Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Lincoln College sophomore Lori Knollenberg of Lincoln is this year's recipient of the Corrine Houston Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Lincoln College.

Knollenberg is a 2007 graduate of Lincoln Community High School. She is currently working on general education courses and plans to graduate in May. She has achieved academic success and was listed on the fall 2007 president's list. She is the daughter of Dwayne and Peggy Knollenberg of Lincoln.

The Corrine Houston Memorial Endowed Scholarship is awarded to worthy students from Logan County. The scholarship was established in memory of Ms. Houston, who was a retired teacher and a member of the Lincoln University Class of 1913.

Helen Heiserman Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Lincoln College freshman Sydny Morris of Lincoln is this year's recipient of the Helen Heiserman Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Lincoln College.

Morris is a 2008 Lincoln Community High School graduate. She is taking liberal arts courses at Lincoln College and working toward an associate degree. She plans to continue her education and major in graphic design at Illinois State University. She is the daughter of Rhonda Morris and Mark Morris, both of Lincoln.

The Helen Heiserman Memorial Endowed Scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved academic honors and are natives of Logan or surrounding counties. The scholarship is in memory of Helen Heiserman, who once taught at Lincoln College.
