[October 29, 2008]  Successful parenting during and after divorce will be discussed when the DivorceCare support group meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Jefferson Street Christian Church, 1700 N. Jefferson.

DivorceCare is a video seminar series featuring experts on divorce and recovery topics such as coping with depression, financial survival and forgiveness. Each session also includes small group discussions.

"KidCare" looks at divorce's effect on children of different ages, advises parents on how to help their children cope with their parents' divorce and suggests ways to minimize the negative effects of parental dating.

Featured experts are Bob Barnes, Ph.D., counselor and author of "Single Parenting" and "Raising Confident Kids"; Archibald Hart, Ph.D., dean of the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, Calif., and author of "Children and Divorce"; and Gary Richmond, pastor and author of "Successful Single Parenting."

DivorceCare will meet on Mondays through Nov. 24. Participants may join the group at any time during the series; preregistration is not required. Cost of the DivorceCare workbook is $12. Child care is available. Call 217-732-9294 for more information.
