[October 31, 2008]  (AP)  Rain and possible thunderstorms were forecast Friday for much of Central and Northern California, Oregon and Washington as a Pacific storm system pushes through the West Coast. Snow was likely in higher elevations in the region.

HardwareMeanwhile, the Midwest was anticipating dry and cool conditions. A cold front was expected to cause temperatures to drop in the Great Lakes region, but no precipitation was expected.

Clear skies were forecast for the Northeast and most of the South, though showers and possible thunderstorms were expected in the lower Mississippi Valley.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Thursday ranged from a low of 14 degrees at Shirley Basin, Wyo., to a high of 98 degrees at Bullhead City, Ariz.
