The Community Action Partnership was established in 1971 as the
National Association of Community Action Agencies and is the
national organization representing the interests of the 1,000
Community Action agencies working to fight poverty at the local
level.
"I was thrilled to have both staff and governing board members
attend the conference this year," said Angela Stoltzenburg,
executive director. "It's an important opportunity to learn about
the fight against poverty at the national level. We are part of an
exciting network. We have forward-thinking partners."
Local representatives were Stoltzenburg, Kathy Inman, Ellen
Burbage, Kathy Shepherd, Kimberly Lucas and Angie Jenkins of
Lincoln. Courtney Stewart of Illiopolis, Anna Richardson of Bath,
Phib Hedden of Havana and Steve Lobb of Clinton also attended.
Attendees learned about a variety of best practices and innovative
ways to combat poverty at the local level. Lobb served on a panel
regarding the agency's 2005 transition when it lost longtime
executive director, Jane Poertner.
