Alice Harmon

[September 05, 2008]  ATLANTA -- Alice M. Harmon, 75, of Atlanta, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at 10:45 p.m. at ManorCare Nursing Home in Normal.

Her funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Atlanta United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rob Roy officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time.

Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harmon retired from State Farm Insurance after 35 years of service.

She was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Stanford to Walter "Buck" D. and Lucille M. Harris Taylor. She married Charles D. "Pete" Harmon on Sept. 12, 1956, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2000.

She is survived by three daughters, Janice Harmon-McRoberts, Sandra (and Mark) Hill and Kathryn (and Randy) Combs, all of Atlanta; one son, Charles Ray Harmon of Springfield; four sisters, Bettie (and Hank) DeRose of Indian Mound, Tenn., Patricia (and Frank) McDaniels of Wasola, Mo., Mary (and John) Janssen of Phoenix, Ariz., and Carol (and Gale) Amdor of Mountain Home, Ark.; two brothers, Charles (and Sandy ) Taylor of Clinton and Jerry (and Penny) Taylor of Spring Valley; a sister-in-law, Shirley Taylor of LeRoy; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, John Harmon, and three brothers.

Funeral Director

Mrs. Harmon was a member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She graduated from Armington High School.

She was loved dearly by all her family.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad or Atlanta United Methodist Church.
