On Sept. 27 the Lincoln Area YMCA will host its third annual Y Run. The run this year will be in conjunction with the Illinois State Alliance of YMCA's State-Wide Walk. At least 17 other Illinois YMCAs will host walking events as well. The local Y Run is a 5K run and one-mile fun run-walk that helps raise funding for Lincoln Area YMCA scholarships. This funding helps local families who could not otherwise afford YMCA programming. Come out for a day of fitness and fun with the YMCA.

Looking for a way to keep your child busy during school's-out days? Sign them up for Origami Art for Kids. This class will be on Oct. 13 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Y Activity Center art studio. The class is for children in first through sixth grade who are interested in learning about origami and includes a hands-on art folding project. Registration deadline is Oct. 6.
