[September 17, 2008]  SPRINGFIELD -- In another step to keep Illinoisans safe during an emergency, the Illinois Department of Public Health is conducting a pandemic influenza tabletop exercise in Springfield on Wednesday. This session is for Christian County, Logan County, Menard County and Sangamon County. The exercise is designed to discuss county preparedness plans and ways in which the state will provide resources in the event of an influenza pandemic.

CivicExercises are being conducted across the state and will provide an opportunity for local health departments, hospitals, local law enforcement and emergency management agencies to discuss security needs outlined in each county's community-based pandemic influenza plan. Additionally, the exercises will identify gaps or discrepancies in security plans and determine necessary plan revisions based on support capacity and capabilities.

The exercise on Wednesday will be at the Crowne Plaza Springfield, 3000 S. Dirksen Parkway.
