The survey addressed a wide variety of topics, seeking public
opinion on issues including the death penalty, sex offender
registration and same-sex marriage. Some area residents supplied
additional comments, voicing concerns over rising gas prices,
immigration and impeachment. Most telling, said Bomke, was that
not one of the Logan County respondents indicated that they believe
Illinois is headed in the right direction.
"I don't think it comes as a shock to anyone that the people of
Logan County think this state is headed in the wrong direction,"
said Bomke. "The last six years under the Blagojevich administration
have irreparably hurt Illinois -- and central Illinois in
particular."
The results also showed strong area support for the death
penalty, with no Logan County residents in favor of abolishing capital
punishment in Illinois. The survey responses also reflected almost
unanimous support for parental notification before a minor daughter
can have an abortion.
Following are the survey questions and results for Logan County
