[September 18, 2008]  WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) -- State police said somebody has made off with an electronic message sign used by the Department of Transportation to provide information to motorists on Interstate 84 in Waterbury.

DonutsState police said the variable message sign along I-84 near exit 25 was reported stolen earlier this week.

The sign measures 4-by-6 feet and is mounted on a two-wheel trailer. State police say it's worth about $20,000.

The sign was parked on the eastbound side of the highway and it's used to notify motorists of accidents, construction news and traffic delays.
