This year's fair will focus on health, fitness and recycling. "Go
Green!" More than 60 organizations will have displays or offer
health screenings. Guests at the fair will learn new and innovative
approaches to wellness.
Health screenings are always popular at the fair and many will be
offered: blood pressure, blood sugar/diabetes, body mass index, bone
density, child development, cholesterol, hemoglobin, oral cancer, pH
testing and pulse oximetry. All screenings except the hemoglobin
($1) and cholesterol ($5) will be free of charge.
Do you have recyclable items in your home? Besides the health
screenings and health exhibits, the Community Health Fair will
provide a chance for you and your family to bring in recyclable
items! Nine different organizations will attend the health fair to
collect various recyclables. The items that will be accepted are as
follows: printer cartridges, cell phones, eyeglasses, pop tabs,
plastic bags, CFL light bulbs (swirly style), medications and
mercury products. Container glass will be collected at Lincoln
Community High School.
There will also be a food drive. Attendees are asked to bring
food donations for the local food pantries. These donations will be
collected by United Way.
The Red Cross will conduct a blood bank from 9 a.m. to 2
p.m. in conjunction with the health fair. Your gift of blood can
help save someone's life, so please make plans to give at the Red
Cross blood bank. First-time donors are welcome. No experience
needed!
Saturday's entertainment
