[April 01, 2009]  DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- A man who police say skipped out of paying for a prosthetic leg has been arrested. Police said the man was arrested March 9 at an Omaha, Neb., apartment and charged with conspiracy to sell methamphetamine.

Pottawattamie County, Iowa, Sheriff Jeff Danker said the man was brought to his jail on suspicion of being in the country illegally. That's when authorities discovered he was wanted on a warrant for the theft of the leg.

Police said the man was measured and fitted for the leg at a Des Moines business in 2005. They said he picked it up to test for a few hours but never returned to pay for it.

Police say the leg was confiscated and will be returned to the store.
