A crew returning home after work had their truck burst into flames at McEntire Roofing, 1909 N. Kickapoo yesterday evening. The truck caused severe smoke damage to the roofing company as well as Legends Billiards and Bar, which occupies the front of the location.
Fire Chief Kent Hulett said the fire was reported at 5:56 p.m., with a first respondent on the premises within four minutes.
Fire and rescue units from Lincoln, Lincoln Rural and Atlanta responded to the fire, with the Mount Pulaski Fire Department taking over watch of the city of Lincoln while units battled the blaze.
Although there is an initial report of little fire damage to the structure's interior, the smoke damage is considered extensive and could reach six figures, according to a preliminary report by Hulett.
There is no determination at this time as to what caused the truck to burst into flames.
