The Lincoln College annual 5K
run and noncompetitive one-mile walk, commonly known as Run, Ramble
and Roll, is encouraging families to participate in this year’s
event on April 25. Start time is 9:30 a.m.

Rick Samuels, Lincoln College race coordinator and development
officer, says he hopes to see more families participate. "We are
trying something new with the race and walk and hope to see entire
families participate," he said. "Our goal is to target family
members who enjoy the outdoors and want an opportunity to share
family time while exercising. This fast and flat course begins on
campus and winds through the Starkey Acres area. The finish line is
right in front of the Meyer-Evans Student Center."
Each year the college asks the city of Lincoln for help by
closing roads, and this year is no different. "We want the public to
know that during our race the roads that will be closed are
Nicholson Road, Feldman Drive, Logan and Ottawa streets. The roads
will be closed for a short amount of time from 9:30 until 11 a.m.,
and we want everyone to know we appreciate their patience," said
Samuels.
The entry fee is $50 for families up to four people and $25 per
person if postmarked by April 19. After the deadline the fee is
increased by $5. All participants receive a T-shirt, post-race
brunch in the campus dining hall and a goody bag that will include a
free chair massage at Lincoln College's Midwest College of
Cosmetology in Normal. Awards will be presented immediately
following the race to top finishers for both male and female
categories. A random drawing for various prizes will immediately
follow, using runners’ tag numbers.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to preregister but can sign up
the day of the race. Race day registration and check-in begins at
8:30 a.m. in front of the student center in the 800 block of Ottawa
Street. Registration will end at 9:15 a.m. to accommodate the start
of the race.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Lincoln College
Scholarship Fund. In the past the race and walk generated
approximately $2,000 to help students with scholarship needs.
