Agriculture, livestock futures advance on the CBOT

[April 03, 2009]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures rose Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for May delivery jumped 25 cents to $5.505 a bushel; May corn rose 6.5 cents to $4.025 a bushel; May oats gained 7 cents to $1.975 a bushel; and May soybeans advanced 25 cents to $9.77 a bushel.

Beef and pork futures also traded higher on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

June live cattle rose 1.63 cents to 83 cents a pound; May feeder cattle edged up 1.7 cents to 95.65 cents a pound; June lean hogs gained 0.65 cent to 72.1 cents a pound; and May pork bellies rose 0.8 cent to 87.8 cents a pound.
