To the editor:
A question to the voters in the New Holland-Middletown School
District 88 -- Why would anyone want to give away over $700,000 each
year?
By voting YES to the referendum question on the April 7 ballot,
you will keep our school OPEN so that our students will continue to
benefit from a solid educational experience. You will also help our
school retain the future revenues that will be derived from the wind
farm scheduled to be built in our district. Once the revenues from
the wind farms reach us, the tax amount levied can be lowered. NH-M
needs your help to operate until that time.
New Holland-Middletown School District 88 is successful in
consistently providing a sound foundation for our students. Our
district has demonstrated these results by tying for the highest
2008 Illinois State Achievement Test scores in Logan County.

NH-M was awarded the 2008 Spotlight School Award for Academic
Achievement by the Illinois State Board of Education. The award is
given to Illinois school districts that have exemplary performance
in closing the achievement gap, meeting high standards and opening a
world of opportunities for students.
Our district has provided the educational foundation for some of
the finest graduates of Logan County. The voters in New
Holland-Middletown District 88 have the opportunity to unite to SAVE
OUR SCHOOL. Please vote YES on April 7, 2009.
Stacie Skelton,
Middletown
