Woman fires on police station in southern Israel

[April 04, 2009]  JERUSALEM (AP) -- Israeli police say a woman opened fire on a police station in southern Israel and officers shot and killed the attacker.

Moshe Fintzy of Israel's paramilitary police says the incident took place close to the desert town of Beersheba on Saturday.

He says the woman fired at paramilitary police but did not hit anyone before she was gunned down.

Fintzy says they haven't identified the woman.

Police are checking her body to see whether she was carrying any other weapons.
