[April 10, 2009]  The Lincoln Railer Band Boosters will be having a drive-up chicken dinner on Thursday, April 23, from 4-6 p.m. in the Lincoln Community High School parking lot. Cost for the dinner is $8 and includes a half of chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, bread and butter. Tickets are available from band members or Mr. Swaar, band teacher, 732-4131, ext. 232.

Location correction: Jefferson Street Christian Church Easter services will be at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. at the 1700 Jefferson St. location. Earlier information stated they would be held at the LCC chapel, which is incorrect.

Mark your calendars now. Humane Society of Logan County will hold its quarterly general membership meeting on Wednesday, April 15. Their good partner, Chad's Blind, 1230 Fifth St., will be the site for the meeting. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. and the meeting will commence at 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity to meet other members and join the excitement that is HSLC. Invite your friends and neighbors. You do not have to be a member to attend.

We just loved this picture. In politics, if you snooze, you lose. But 2-month-old Reece Entwistle taking an election day snooze in one of the voting machine cases just needed to be shared with our readers.

Lincoln Christian College and Seminary is hosting its sixth annual Run for Your Life two-mile run-walk on Friday, April 17, at 4 p.m. This race is open to the campus family, the Lincoln community and surrounding area.

As a prelude to National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, the event is a challenge to the campus family and community members who want to improve personal fitness, decrease health care costs, increase wellness and productivity. It is a "fun" activity with a "serious" goal. Winners will be recognized by age and gender. All finishers will receive a medal, and there are plenty of door prizes available. The whole family can participate.

The race keeps growing, with over 125 participants. Runners and walkers from the community and surrounding area look forward to returning each year. The race is described as "a well-organized, fun-filled event." The two-mile course on the college campus is flat, fast, accurate and all paved.

All participants are invited to a post-race celebration afterward with grilled food, drink, music, door prizes and awards. Numerous area businesses have been loyal partners with LCCS through the years to encourage health and wellness. They have graciously offered their support by either financial sponsorship or donated goods and services for the post-race party. The school deeply appreciates their support.
