[April 25, 2009]  Zumba: a fun word to say and a guaranteed fun workout too. Zumba is a great new exercise class that combines the beat of Latin music with specific dance moves. Jayne Weaver is our Zumba gold-certified instructor. Jayne will offer this class at 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and again on Fridays at 8:30 a.m. She invites anyone interested to come and check out the latest and hottest workout routine.

Joining the Sports Center includes any of our group exercise classes. Aerobics, Spin, Fit for Seniors and the newest class, Zumba, are available at no additional charge with a circuit or full-access membership. Oftentimes group exercise makes the best motivator to keep you coming on a regular basis. Studies have proven that working out with a partner keeps both of you motivated and committed.

From teenagers to seniors, the Sports Center has something for everyone. New equipment has bee added to the circuit area in the Sports Center. The three new pieces are a deltoid machine, deltoid-back machine and a lower torso machine. We encourage you to come out and let us know what you think of them. The addition of this new equipment allows patrons to add more variety to their workout routines and exercise different muscle groups in different ways.

We have planned an "Awesome Summer of Fun" for you. I'll list the classes we are having in June and detail them more specifically when the time gets closer. Many new programs have been added and we urge you to take advantage of them. One is Penny Pinching, a four-week lecture series on saving money on the home front. Other offerings are the Fishing Clinic and Derby; hunter education; tennis lessons, Spanish lessons, both youth and adult; tee ball; Funny Business, a cartoon drawing class; and golf and drama camps.

It is also time to sign up for men's and women's softball teams. Prices have remained the same as last year. We plan to begin the first week of June. Rosters and league information are available at the front desk.
