[April 21, 2009]  MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Memphis freshman guard Tyreke Evans has declared himself eligible for the NBA draft.

Evans says playing in the NBA has been a dream for him for a long time. He says he's putting his name out there and will talk to his family before deciding whether to stay in the draft or return for another season at Memphis.

The 6-foot-6 Associated Press All-America honorable mention led the Tigers in scoring with 17.1 points per game and steals with 77. He averaged 5.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 71.1 percent from the free-throw line.
