[April 21, 2009]  (AP)  A strong spring storm was expected to bring cold air and mixed precipitation across the Eastern U.S. on Tuesday.

Numerous bands of rain and snow were expected across Wisconsin and northern Illinois, along with lower temperatures and snow showers across northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

More precipitation was on tap for the Mid-Atlantic and New England throughout Tuesday, with thunderstorms possible along the coast.

Another cold front approaching from the south was to bring another round of light to moderate showers with some heavy rain and thunderstorms to the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic.

In the West, above-normal temperatures were to continue.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a low of 17 degrees at Clayton Lake, Maine, to a high of 103 degrees at Thermal, Calif.
