Ag futures leap; beef and pork prices higher

[August 01, 2009]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures leapt Friday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for September delivery added 12 cents to $5.2825 a bushel, and September corn jumped 7.25 cents to $3.395 a bushel. December oats gained 4 cents to $2.12, and soybeans for November delivery were up 11 cents to $9.82 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef and pork futures rose on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

October live cattle climbed 0.35 cent to 90.20 cents a pound, while August feeder cattle gained 0.23 cent to $1.0235 a pound. October lean hogs jumped 1.30 cents to 53.90 cents a pound, and August pork bellies traded up 1.25 cents to 62.25 cents a pound.
