Thunderstorms that were over
Iowa this morning are expected to weaken. However, regeneration of
strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible late Monday
afternoon over portions of western Illinois. Isolated tornadoes will
be possible for the first couple of hours, followed by more of a
threat of large hail and damaging wind. The chance for severe storms
will shift eastward and cover all of central Illinois tonight, with
large hail and damaging winds the main threats. Another round of
severe storms will be possible with additional storms that develop
on Tuesday. After that, the main threat for severe thunderstorms
should shift south and west, away from the area.
After a long absence, temperatures of 90-plus degrees are
forecast to return to the Midwest this weekend.
