[August 04, 2009]  The Lincoln College Office of Alumni Relations is hosting a Lincoln College Day at O'Brien Field in Peoria on Friday, Aug. 14. The game will match the Peoria Chiefs against the Burlington Bees. The event is open to all Lincoln College alumni, friends and members of the community, but ticket quantities are limited.

The cost for the game is $25 per person and includes a private, open-air party area overlooking third base, a buffet dinner, soda, water and beer, a goodie bag, door prizes, and a spectacular fireworks show after the game. Tom Zurkammer, Lincoln College alumnus, former administrator and coach, and everyone's local friend, will be throwing out the first pitch. Lincoln College music instructor Diane Dietz and Kerri Taylor, alumni relations and special events coordinator, will sing the national anthem. This will be a fun event for families and fans of all ages. It is free for children under 3.

The gates will open at 5:30 p.m., with the buffet beginning at 6 p.m. and the game starting at 6:30 p.m.

To reserve your tickets or for more information, contact the Lincoln College Alumni Office at 217-732-3155 or toll-free at 877-522-5867, or visit www.lincolncollege.edu/alumni to download the reservation form. Additional questions can be e-mailed to Mary Jo Werth at mjwerth@lincolncollege.edu.

Habitat for Humanity is having a raffle! Be sure to visit the Habitat for Humanity booth at the Logan County Fair this week and check out the 6-by-6-foot wooden playhouse that was built for Habitat by the men of Atlanta United Methodist Church. Your kids or grandkids will love it!

The playhouse is not painted but will be finished in the color choice of the winner. The raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5. The playhouse will be displayed and raffle tickets will be sold at the county fair Aug. 4–9 and at the Railsplitter Festival in September. In between events, the playhouse will be at Habitat's produce stand, and tickets may also be purchased there. The drawing will take place at the Railsplitter Festival and the lucky winner will be notified.

The LCHS Band Boosters and LCHS Class of 1989 will host a pancake and sausage breakfast Sunday, Aug. 9, at the LCHS cafeteria. Breakfast will be available from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance from members of the LCHS band.

Please join us on Monday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for a program on "Living with MS: Wellness with Dr. Matt Petry."

Petry is a board-certified chiropractic physician in private practice who specializes in working with people with multiple sclerosis. Petry teaches a series of strengthening and stretching exercises to help improve strength, mobility and flexibility in those with MS.

This program is conducted through the National MS Society and is open to the community. The program is free. Please call Brenda Centers at 217-737-7697 with questions.

You can also get six chances for $5, so stop by and take a chance on filling the pantry with great IGA food, plus help the United Way.
