Agriculture and livestock futures slide

[August 07, 2009]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures were lower Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for September delivery sank 28.5 cents to $5.0025 a bushel, while September corn lost 14.5 cents to $3.325 a bushel. December oats shed 5 cents to $2.19, and soybeans for November delivery lost 15 cents to $10.30 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef and pork futures dropped on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

October live cattle shed 0.70 cent to 89.12 cents a pound, and September feeder cattle slid 0.18 cent to $1.0097 a pound. October lean hogs tumbled 2.63 cents to 47.57 cents a pound, while August pork bellies tumbled 3 cents to 54.75 cents a pound.
