[August 08, 2009]  SENECA, N.Y. (AP) -- What authorities thought was a decomposing human foot found among recyclables at a western New York landfill really came from a bear.

Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero said a worker found the object among trash Monday and notified authorities. Povero said it appeared to be a human foot but couldn't be positively identified.

Deputies took it to the Monroe County medical examiner's office, which determined through DNA tests that it most likely from a black bear.
