[August 08, 2009]  NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A state prison inmate has sued, claiming Davidson County jailers lost his prosthetic leg. Jerry Ray Brock was held in the jail at Nashville, awaiting transfer to state prison. The Tennessean reported Brock has a criminal history of burglaries.

Brock said when he was extradicted from Georgia and brought to the jail a year ago, he was wearing an older prosthetic leg, but had a new one with him. In a lawsuit filed Thursday, Brock claims a jail guard refused to let him take his new prosthesis and cane or swap for the new one.

Metro Nashville legal department offical Mike Safley said he had not seen the lawsuit, but confirmed Brock earlier filed a claim, seeking return of the artificial limb, which could not be located.

The lawsuit seeks $18,000 reimbursement and $500,000 in punitive damages.
